Wet Shave and Personal Care

Wet Shaving is one of the few rituals that a man can embellish. With a proper badger brush, razor, and shave cream, one can revitalize the morning shave in a way that heightens the experience from a mundane morning responsibly to something eagerly anticipated. This is essentially my personal journey with shaving, and I felt compelled to share it with my customers this holiday season. Years ago, I disliked shaving so much that I resorted to using an electric shaving – which is akin to gardening with a tractor mower or drinking Johnny Walker Blue Label with Coke.

Only after discovering the Badger Brush, Safety Razor, and, ultimately, Santa Maria Novella’s Crema da Barba and Castle Forbes, was the world of wet shaving opened to me like someone had just handed me the keys to a Ferrari. Whereas I once avoided shaving, I now look forward to this now sacred morning ritual with anticipation. What was once a lifeless, automatic activity, I now relish in the skill and precision of what I leave every morning knowing is the most incredible shave of anyone I will encounter that day.

As you can tell, I love shaving – I have experimented with almost every shaving product over a period of years. The selection you see below are what, at the end of the day, I consider to be the absolute best products available in the world. They are my favorite.

The Castle Forbes shave cream was recommended to me by my tailor, Chris Despos. When your tailor recommends something, one listens. Made in Scotland, the Castle Forbes shave cream is perhaps the creamiest I have ever used. A different type of cream than Santa Maria Novella’s (more creamier than soapy), this is incredible in it’s own right.

Both of these shave creams require, at a minimum, Badger Brushes to fully enjoy, which is why we also are carrying Parker shave brushes and razors. If you feel particularly adventurous, I could not more strongly recommend learning to use a safety razor (yes, one must learn how to use it).
