Palatino Sock Care Instructions

With proper care and a proper rotation, your Palatino Socks should last years. Fine hosiery is by nature delicate – special care must be taken in order for it to last. The purpose of this guide is introduce you to the fundamental tenants of proper sock care.

  1. Keep toenails trim.

All of our dress socks are super thin. This maximizes sock breathability and allows them to practically disappear on your foot. However, this also means that they are more prone to ripping at the toe and heel than a normal pair of thick cotton socks. Untrimmed toenails are most often the cause of tearing at the toes. Keep your toenails trimmed and don’t worry about this problem!

If your socks do tear, you can always darn your socks (a sewing technique for repairing holes or worn areas).

  2. Properly-Launder Your socks

Proper laundering of your socks cannot be more important. Machine wash your socks on a gentle cycle, with cold water, and light detergent inside-out. Always line dry or tumble dry with no heat.

For more information, read our detailed guide on How to Launder Socks.

  3. Properly Rotate Your Socks

Just like with tailored clothing, if you wear the same pair of socks every day, they will not last very long. In order to maximum the lifetime of your socks, they need to be properly rotated. If lightly worn, wear them more than once before laundering. A pair of socks can be worn up to three or four times under normal circumstances before they really need to be laundered.
